Industrial Experts Keynote Presentations

Martin Lin, a seasoned expert in the China aviation sector spent 14 years with Rockwell Collins in China. Mr. Lin now is the president of Textron China based in Shanghai.

Textron began manufacturing in China in 1996 establishing a joint venture in Changchun to produce plastic fuel systems for the automotive industry. To date, the firm has two additional wholly owned facilities in Shanghai and Guangzhou producing plastic fuel systems. In 1998, Textron established an office in Shanghai to serve as a resource in the region for the entire corporation. Currently, six Textron business units have sales and service staff based in Shanghai and Beijing, and several other units serve customers throughout the country. In addition, as part of an on-going global sourcing effort, Textron is seeking to grow its percentage of parts and components that are produced in China.

Mr. Lin will present a manufacturing case study of Cessna building a light sports aircraft in Shenyang. Roadblocks and success stories will be explained and a wealth of advice for others considering similar ventures will be given.
